MARGAO: The Joint Mamlatdar and Executive Magistrate of Salcete taluka conducted a raid under the COPTA Act 2003 along with GOACAN and police personnel on Friday.
The team inspected the Rumdamol Davorlim Housing Board area as part of their drive and imposed fines against the offenders/business establishments who had erected signboards for no smoking at a public space. The enforcement squad also enlightened the shopkeepers about the provisions of the COPTA Act. “The Enforcement Squads will take action on illicit tobacco products which are in circulation without paying taxes,” said the district collector’s office.
