The usual festive mood was missing and the Hindu brethren welcomed the arrival of Lord Ganesh with less paintings and decorations. The villagers who usually visit each other preferred to stay indoors. In the coastal villages of Calangute, large idols of Lord Ganesh were installed at Calangute police station, Candolim market, Calangute market, Arpora market and Parra Ganesh temple.
