Rain inundates Ponda fish market; locals, vendors inconvenienced

PONDA: The ground floor housing Ponda’s fish market has flooded with the first rains inconveniencing fishmongers and buyers alike.

Consumers say that they have to wade through the water and bear with the nauseating smell everytime they go to the market.

Fishmongers complain that they have to change places every time it rains, as water starts accumulating everywhere. The parking lot is waterlogged too and motorists have to drive/ride their vehicles through the water.

Locals and vendors have demanded that the Health Department inspect the area and direct the municipal council to take appropriate measures.

Sources reveal that the Health Department officials has already directed the Ponda Municipal Council to clear the place by removing the water which has not happened and this has upset the locals.
