The Federation of Rainbow Warriors said that the Goa Land Development and Building Construction (Amendment) Regulations, 2022, will open the gates for widespread destruction of the remaining green areas of Goa at the hands of greedy land speculators and will displace Goans on an unprecedented scale. The amendments must be scrapped immediately and a stringent, RP2031 be prepared to cope with the climate crisis, which will swallow 15 per cent of Goa’s lands as per the State Action Plan on Climate Change.
Goa Trinamool Congress Party (TMC) said that the recent amendments to the Goa Land Development and Building Construction Regulations have come at the cost of Goa’s agricultural sector. The government is in a tearing hurry to destroy Goan farmers.’ He further stressed, ‘Doubling of railway tracks, expansion of the National Highway and the Tanmar power transmission project has already contributed to the destruction of Goa’s environment.’
The Revolutionary Goans Party (RGP) said that the changes to the Act mean the back door entry for various land developers to fulfil their agenda and finish green Goa whatever is remaining. The government has miserably failed on stopping and taking action against those involved in filling green low-lying fields.
