PANJIM: As the State is heading to rain deficit, the Goa Meteorological Centre has predicted light to moderate rainfall for the next four days, with heavy rainfall likely at isolated places on Sunday and Monday.
As per the IMD bulletin for the last 24 hours, Canacona has recorded the maximum rainfall of 13 cms followed by Dabolim 10 cms, Margao 8 cms and Mormugao 7 cms. The least was recorded at Old Goa 1 cm while Panjim, Pernem, Sanguem and Quepem recorded 2 cms rainfall each.
There is no weather warning but the department has advised not to venture into the sea on Monday and Tuesday.
The only slight relief is that since the arrival of monsoon on Thursday, the temperature has dropped with maximum temperature reaching 30 degree Celsius and minimum at 24 degree Celsius.
“There was marked fall in maximum temperature and they were below normal over North and South Goa. The lowest minimum temperature of 24 degree Celsius was recorded in Panjim and Mormugao,” the IMD said.
For the next 24-48 hours, the maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 31 and 23 degree Celsius respectively. “The sky would generally be cloudy with few spells of rain/thundershowers,” it added.
Goa has experienced 14 days delay in the arrival of monsoon this year with the last delay recorded in 2016 when monsoon arrived on June 10.
