CANACONA: If the rains caught many Canacona residents unaware on Saturday morning, the whole of Sunday was no different. Thunder, lightning, strong winds and intermitted rains led many to wonder whether the monsoons had already hit or whether these were just pre-monsoon showers.
While the meteorological department is still hopeful that the monsoon will commence in the next three or four days, the rains have begun to hit many parts of Canacona taluka since Sunday.
Notwithstanding of what the IMD officials predicted, many people believe that the monsoon have already begun in the taluka, a day before the traditional believed ‘Mirg’ on June 7.
Incidentally, the temperature had dropped while the rains started, but rose once it was over.
