CANACONA: Canacona residents were caught unawares and left stranded at many places as the taluka witnessed light to moderate showers on Tuesday.
There were reports of the rains damaging the harvested crop and some minor accidents due to the sudden downpour on Tuesday.
It started raining in the taluka since Tuesday morning as most locals moving out of their houses without rain gear were left stranded at many places. Farmers across the taluka complained of crop loss due to rains.
A few accidents were reported in Canacona as the roads turned slippery whereas some vehicles got stuck in the trenches dug along the national highway by a mobile service provider to lay cables. Locals blamed the contractors for the shoddy work of covering these trenches with loose mud. There were reports of trees getting uprooted at a few places due to winds in the taluka. However, no casualties were reported.
