SANGUEM: The Electricity Department workers had a tough time in restoring power supply to many parts in Sanguem taluka following the pre-monsoon showers that lashed the state on Wednesday evening.
Several overhead power lines got snapped due incidents of trees getting uprooted, which plunged several villages into darkness on Wednesday. The workers engaged by the power department however managed to restore power supply in most areas by Thursday afternoon.
In Uguem a coconut tree fell on the electricity cables plunging some areas into darkness. However, power supply was restored on Thursday evening.
Similarly, at Valshem Bhati, a roadside tree crashed on a house.
The department officials had difficulty in clearing the same.
Sanguem MLA Prasad Gaonkar along with the department officials visited some of the affected areas in the constituency to get himself acquainted with the problems of the people.
The villagers apprised the MLA on the deteriorating power and water supply situation in the villages, which has affected the dairy sector.
