CALANGUTE: With the Diwali weekend here, which sees a huge rush of tourists, visitors expecting to visit the Saturday Night Bazaar in Arpora are in for disappointment with the organisers postponing the weekly market’s opening after the sudden thunderstorm and rain early Wednesday morning.
The Saturday Night Bazaar is now the only night market left standing in Arpora after the closure of the former Ingo’s Saturday Night Market four years ago.
The recent downpour has led to water-logging in the low-lying fields and former salt pans at the venue of the open-air bazaar at the Salt Lake ground on the Arpora-Anjuna road, making it impractical to organise the market, one of the promoters said. “If it does not rain in the next eight-ten days, then we will open,” Salman Sayyed, one of the organisers, said.
