Rainwater creates nuisance for motorists under railway bridge in port town

VASCO: Motorists and pedestrians had a tough time near Tania Hotel in Vasco as the area under the railway overbridge strated getting flooded with incessant downpour. Residents alleged that the drainage system was not mainteained over the years which led to the flooding.

This caused inconvenience to two-wheeler riders and pedestrians. Locals have appealed to the Mormugao Municipal Council to take steps to resolve the issue on priority.

Former MLA Carlos Almeida had earlier pressed workers into service to clear the gutters on time but lately, the drainage system in the town has collapsed leading to saturation of water on the road. The water flowing in the gutters near the railway line has no way to drain out and then flows onto the road under the flyover.

Due to the accumulation of water, the pavers have come off causing uneven surface of the roads.
