‘Raj Bhavan Darshan’ subject to booking, police verification

PANJIM: A day after government issued an order banning public entry into Raj Bhavan for six months, the office of Raj Bhavan on Wednesday decided to open the ‘Raj Bhavan Darshan’ for the visitors subject to prior booking and police verification.  
“Raj Bhavan Darshan’ is reviewed along with SP (Security) and in view of request from various quarters, it is decided to open the ‘Raj Bhavan Darshan’ for visitors,” a press release by Secretary to Governor Rupesh Kumar Thakur to the Directorate of Information & Publicity states. 
As per the existing practice, visitors will have to make online booking to visit Raj Bhavan at its official website and register at least two days prior to the visit. The entry will be subject to police verification and frisking at the main gate of the Raj Bhavan. 
The idea was mooted by then Goa Governor Mridula Sinha who launched the tour last December stating the sprawling premise will be accessible to all, Indian as well as foreign nationals, to see its rich history and heritage, flora and fauna of the place.’ 
With Satya Pal Malik, former Governor of ex-state of Jammu & Kashmir taking over as Goa Governor on Sunday, the Home Department heightened the security barring entry of visitors for six months.
