PANJIM: Taking a step towards encouraging the State’s government’s move of promoting a cashless society, the Raj Bhavan went cashless on Monday for their daily expenditure.
Goa Governor Mridula Sinha launched the Cashless Raj Bhavan for petty day-to-day household purchases and expenditure.
A bank account for Raj Bhavan has been opened with State Bank of India, Dona Paula Branch, in the name of Comptroller of the Governor’s Household, through which the purchases will be made after swiping the issued debit card on the POS system, for various purchases.
The staff and residents of Raj Bhavan were also trained by SBI on the usage of ATMs, the options that can be availed through an ATM and the security aspect of cashless transactions, on February, 2017.
Departments like Tourism, Panchayats, Excise, Commercial, Entertainment Society of Goa (EGS) were among the first to go cashless.
