CANACONA: A 21-year-old youth from Rajbhag was arrested on grounds for allegedly possessing drugs worth about Rs 87,000 in the wee hours of Wednesday.
Canacona police said that while they were patrolling at Palolem beach, they intercepted a youth near the lifeguard tower at 1.15 am.
On suspicion, police questioned him, and on his bodily search he was found to be in possession of substance suspected to be ganja.
Police recovered 872 grams of dry green coloured leafy and flowery parts of plant suspected to be ganja, worth Rs 87,000.
The accused has been arrested and charged under Sectioin 20(b)(ii)(A)of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
The case is currently being investigated by police officer Rifha Barretto.
