MARGAO: Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament Vinay Tendulkar on Thursday assured to look into the problems faced due to the small and ill-equipped Kabrastan of Margao.

Tendulkar assured that the long-pending works of the existing kabrastan in Pajifond, Margao wherein illumination, rebuilding of the boundary wall and other works will be done through his MPLAD funds.

The initiative was taken by Urfan Mulla, who recently joined BJP, to set the ball rolling for a new kabrastan land.

“Tendulkar has assured me that he will find a way out for the long-pending land issue of the Muslim burial ground,” Mulla said.

“An image of the BJP has been created that the party is out to finish minorities. However, it has been 25 years since the MLA of Margao is being elected and I am ready to sit for an open debate. He should tell what he did for the minorities,” Mulla challenged.

“I will take all the stakeholders and the authorities in consideration, find out the status of the existing lands for the kabrastan and finalise one after completing due process,” said Vinay.

At least two locations were finalised twice but the land for new kabrastan never saw the light of the day.
