A chain rally to protest against the proposed widening of the NH4A highway lane passing through Corlim will be organised by the Corlim Citizen’s Civic and Consumer Forum (CCCCF) from the Mollar Petrol Pump to the Banastarim Bridge in Corlim on Sunday at about 10 am.
It may be noted that CCCCF members had earlier met Opposition Leader Manohar Parrikar and submitted a memorandum seeking a diversion of the highway. They have feared the destruction of a number of houses along the highway in Corlim if the road-widening project goes ahead.
Speaking to Herald, CCCCF Secretary Baptist Pereira said the chain rally is being organized to protest against the State government’s proposal to widen the NH4 highway through cities, villages and thickly populated areas. “Our agitation will continue till this NH4A highway lane is diverted away from thickly populated areas,” Pereira said.
