MAPUSA: Students from St Thomas Higher Secondary School, Aldona and the volunteers of Lions Club of Aldona marched through the village to spread awareness on ill effects of indiscriminate use of plastic on Monday.
They carried placards that explained the promotion of a safe environment, ill effects of plastic and the need for environmental protection.
During the rally paper bags were distributed to all the shops by the students. The message the students sent out was ‘say no to carry bags and carry your own bag’. The students and members of the lions club also took up cleanliness drive at the Aldona bus stop, market area and at Prof Edward Soares memorial to mark Swachh Bharat Abhiyan- Nitol Goem Aldona.
