Ramu dreams of 52-carat gold

Looking at the sewage-filled pits all around the very smart city, in his dreams, poetry flows. Ramu recites jovially.

“When there are pits, there will be bids. When there are pits, there will be bids”.

Ramu figures this quickly. All that was sunk deep inside these city pits was gold. Was it the hard 18-carat or the pure soft 24-carat?  His imagination did not end there. It soared to 52 carats. “Yes there are 52-carat gold deposits under this liquid, very soft and precious”.

Unable to conceal his excitement, Ramu goes to Chintamani. “Chinta, when the gold mining barons come who will conduct the auctions?” Chinta smiles and says, “Simple Ramu, the Smart people who are in charge of all the smart resources that will float. All that doesn’t glitter is also gold, very soft gold.”

Ramu then dreams of becoming very rich. “Even I will be rich. We will be rich. We have been told that all mineral resources belong to us, so the gold is ours. Anything that floats is ours”.

Excitedly he goes to his wife and tells her, “I will get you a gold necklace and drape you in gold, my dear.” He then hears her stern voice “Ramu just stop dreaming”.

He woke up with a start, forgetting the bids but staring at the foul-smelling pits.
