PANJIM: Leader of Opposition Pratapsing Rane seemed extremely unhappy with the ‘unfit pot bellied policemen’ as he suggested to the government to inculcate exercising routine among the police force.
“We have policemen with big stomachs…I was told by some policemen that there is no exercises or physical training or drill conducted to keep them physically fit. They need to undergo regular exercises to chase the criminals,” he told the House, while participating in the discussion on demands for grants for Police department.
Rane also expressed disappointment over the poor crime detection for cases of thefts, rapes and their offences. Here, he suggested that government impart special training to the police force.
He also said that Goans are not suspicious of strangers in general and this attitude should be changed to control crimes in the State.
