PORVORIM: Congress MLA Pratapsingh Rane has expressed apprehensions over the attacks by gaurakshaks in certain parts of the country.
“On one side, the government is encouraging increasing milk production and giving subsidies. There are instances wherein the cattle eventually become non-productive and we cannot leave them on the road. They are transported to another State but there are issues over this,” he said, explaining how a dairy farmer was subjected to harassment to show papers when his vehicle with the cattle had entered a neighbouring State. Rane, however, did not elaborate on the controversial issue. He, however, urged the government to tackle the cattle menace on the streets.
