PONDA: Manoj Surya Naik, 53, resident of Godkadev Nagar Kundai, Ponda arrested by the police for allegedly raping a 12-year-old minor girl has been remanded to two days police custody by the Court of Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC).
It may be recalled that the alleged accused had raped the girl in 2019 when she was just nine and had threatened her with dire consequences if she dared to disclose the incident to anyone. However a case against Naik was registered only yesterday after the girl told her mother that he made a second attempt to rape her.
The accused is a married migrant labourer from Kesorlock, Khanapur and has settled in Goa since the last four decades.
