PANJIM: The High Court of Bombay has issued a notice to an alleged rape accused to appear on June 10, following a petition by the victim praying to cancel his conditional anticipatory bail, for violations.
During the hearing, the vacation judge Justice Jitendra S Jain put both the parties to notice as to why the present application should not be heard by the same Court, which granted bail in the light of the decision of the Supreme Court, since the present application seeks to cancel the bail granted.

The petitioner has prayed that the conditional anticipatory bail granted to Lezio Fernandes of Agonda-Canacona be cancelled since he had violated the bail conditions. The petitioner has stated that the alleged accused was seen at her place of residence on two occasions, when he was directed not to enter the village where the victim resides.
On February 26, 2024, the High Court had ordered that that in case of Lezio’s arrest, he be released on a personal bond of Rs 25,000 with one solvent surety in the like amount. He was further asked not to enter the village, where the victim resides and not in any manner tamper with the prosecution witnesses.
The accused was also asked to surrender his passport, if any, with the Sessions Court and not to leave the State without prior permission of the Sessions Court.
On January 25, 2024, the Women’s Police Station, Panjim had registered a case against Lezio Fernandes under Sections 376 and 420 of IPC, for allegedly sexually assaulting the complainant on the promise to marry her and now, the applicant is not fulfilling his promise.
