VASCO: For once may be, the Mormugao Mamlatdar office must have thought of the Pied Piper as they had a shutdown of sorts. It was revealed that rats had nibbled the main networking cables thereby disrupting services such as issuance of residence certificate and caste certificate.
According to the sources in the Mormugao Mamlatdar office, the technical snag in the network came to light on Tuesday following which the officials tried to locate fault and found that the main networking cable was nibbled by rats.
“It is true that most computers in the office had to be shut down after the main line was eaten up by rats. From inward-outward section to counters issuing Residence and Caste certificate were affected. To reduce the inconvenience caused to the people visiting the office, our staff is using the computers in the other sections of the office. Still the number of applicants are high and services cannot be made available to all until the fault in networking cables is rectified,” a staff at Mormugao Mamlatdar office told Herald.
It was also brought to the notice of this Herald reporter that despite repeated calls from the Mormugao Mamlatdar office to the concerned agency looking after the maintenance of networking system, there has been no response from the agency and people visiting the office as well as staff providing services are forced to undergo hardship.
