VASCO: Officially the state administration has started distribution of the pink colour ration cards through respective panchayat secretaries; however, there is no one at Sancoale panchayat to distribute the same.
Several villagers who went to collect the cards at the Sancoale panchayat office had to return empty handed due to the absence of the secretary.
Simon Carvalho, a senior citizen, said that he has been visiting the Sancoale panchayat office every day since the announcement of the new ration card distribution. However, he had to return without collecting his card due to the absence of the secretary.
“Being a senior citizen I am climbing stairs of the panchayat since last two days to get my new ration cards. But the officials at the panchayat informed me that the secretary Arjun Velip is sick and I need to wait until he joins duty,” Carvalho complained.
Carvalho is most worried that the “distribution of the cards at the panchayat is only for limited period (from October 26 to November 4). Thereafter, the cards will be distributed through the office of civil supplies in Vasco.”
Collecting the ration cards from the civil supplies office at Vasco would be more troublesome “for senior citizens like us,” Carvalho told Herald.
When contacted, Sarpanch Ramakant Borkar informed that the secretary is sick and is admitted in hospital due to which there would be some delay in distribution of new ration cards to the villagers.
