MARGAO: Just 11 days to go for the current month to end, and ration holders in many parts of Salcete are yet to receive their monthly quota of ration this month.
Card holders have been making umpteen trips to the fair price shops, only to return with the same answer from the owners they are yet to receive their quota.
When contacted, Salcete Civil supplies officials informed that people will receive their ration late this month on account of late supply of the quota of rice, wheat and oil. “The civil supplies department received the quota only on Friday. The fair price shop owners have started lifting their quota and the card holders will receive their ration in a day or two”, informed a Salcete Taluka Civil Supplies official.
He said some of the fair price shops have started distributing the quota to the card holders from Tuesday, adding that the situation will stabilise within the next few days.
