MARGAO: After Benaulim, rice and wheat has now gone ‘missing’ from a Fair Price Shop from the Nagao village panchayat premises. A police complaint has now been filed at the Verna Police Station in this connection.

Sarpanch Gabrial Fernandes stated that 87 bags of rice and 24 bags of wheat have been missing from their fair price shop here.

“We have found that the stock from the fair price shop run by the panchayat is missing, however, we don’t know when it disappeared. Nearly 4,374 kgs of rice and 1,202 kg of wheat are missing from the stock”, said the Sarpanch.

He also informed that as per their investigation, the concerned in-charge of the fair price shop is not involved in the matter and demanded that police investigate the case properly.

“Records at the office of the department show the correct figure of the stock supplied, but it was ‘missing’ from the shop”, he further informed.
