PONDA: In a bid to take credit for the hot-mixing of roads in Ponda, local MLA Ravi Naik and PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar crossed swords at the launching of the work in the town, on Saturday.
Disquiet at the prospect of sharing credit for the development work in Ponda with Sudin, Ravi openly asked him, “Why are you coming for the inauguration of small work. Are you coming to gain political mileage in the civic polls that are scheduled on April 29. You should undertake big works like construction of big bridges and highways and not small one like this.”
Taken aback by the blunt question, Sudin said that hot-mixing of roads was not a small work. “This too is a big work. Many internal roads will be hot-mixed by spending crores of rupees,” he said justifying his presence at the launch.
However, Ravi countered him saying that the hot-mixing works were tendered last year after he regularly followed-up the subject with the chief minister.  However, both the leaders did not leave their mutual animosity come in the way of launching the hot-mixing work.
