PONDA: Ponda MLA Ravi Naik on Wednesday asked PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar to introspect before he makes statements to improve Ponda’s traffic system.
Addressing the media, Naik expressed ridiculed Dhavalikar’s recent statement at Kundaim, where the minister promised to introduce traffic management plan for Ponda, beside a flyover over Ponda nullah to ease traffic congestion.
Naik asked the minister not to make false promises to the people and emphasised that Ponda Municipal Council and he (Ravi), as the serving local MLA, were capable of bringing development to Ponda.
He also pointed out that Dhavalikar`s traffic management proposal was not new and had been often repeated in the past.
Questioning the minister’s intent, Naik said if he was really interested in developing Ponda, he could have done so five years ago, when the MGP’s former Ponda MLA Lavoo Mamledar was part of the government.
Taking on the minister, Naik said instead of speaking about development of Ponda constituency, Dhavalikar should enlist the development made in Marcaim constituency, which he has been representing for the past 20 years.
Naik revealed that Dhavalikar had been unsuccessful in bringing development in Marcaim during the past two decades and had failed to improve even the Marcaim public health centre, Marcaim ground and veterinary hospital.
