Shockingly, it has created major hardships for the tiatr artists and tiatr lovers in general, despite earning an annual profit of lakhs of rupees. The problems are only piling up without a committee at the helm of affairs at Ravindra Bhavan and all the decisions are pending the council’s approval.
The sound system installed in the main auditorium of the Pai Agostinho Hall, which is almost outdated, has resulted in major hardships to the performing artists, especially the tiatrists, who are gearing up with their shows.
Even the cracks in the walls of the building have not been repaired for the last many years leading to questions about the safety of the people entering the premises of the Ravindra Bhavan.
However, the recently appointed Member Secretary Agnelo Fernandes has claimed that he has already initiated corrective steps pertaining to the issues.
Speaking to Herald, Pascoal de Chicalim, Tiatr Director said “No canteen facility and ban on taking even water bottles inside the auditorium has resulted in major hardships to the audiences. It has resulted so badly that audiences are now not willing to come to Ravindra Bhavan to watch tiatr”, he stated.

Another tiatrist claimed that the toilets in the green room too are not in proper condition. “The sound speakers installed in the green room, besides the VIP room, are not functioning”, he added.
A group of tiatr directors had submitted a memorandum to the officials at Ravindra Bhavan informing issues of the canteen and other problems faced by them while performing.
