MARGAO: Offering much relief to the public, the Registrar of Cooperative Societies (RCS), South Zone was shifted to the PWD complex in Fatorda from the third floor of Gomant Vidya Niketan Margao.
Minister Subhash Shirodkar said the shifting of the office will address the issues of the public.
who were finding the old office too congested and inaccessible.
It is to be noted that there were complaints about the condition of the old office too.
He pointed out that they had been working towards this shifting of offices for months now and in the new set up, there is ample space for the public as well as the staff of the Assistant (RCS), South Zone.
Shirodkar, who is also the Water Resources Department (WRD) minister added that the building belongs to WRD and in the future another building will be constructed for RCS.
He also added that the Cooperative Department is emphasising on exports and organic farming through the various cooperative societies that exist, particularly those that are about farming and agriculture.
Responding to queries about concerns investors have regarding their funds in credit cooperative societies, the Minister stated that he has instructed his officials to be vigilant.
He added that every six months, there will be a surprise visit by the government officials at these credit cooperative societies where there will be a review held to ensure that there is no mismanagement or malpractices at play.
