PANJIM: The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) on Tuesday re-appointed presidents for nine Block Congress Committees with immediate effect, as a part of restructuring of the party organisation.
The newly appointed Block Congress Committee presidents are as follows: Saligao-Atul Naik; Santa Cruz-Sushant Govekar, Aldona- Ashwin D’Souza, Quepem-Avadoot Amonkar, Canacona-Pralay Bhagat, Cuncolim-Assis Noronha, Curchorem-Pushkal Sawant, Margao-Gopal Naik and Nuvem-Manuel D’Costa.
All the above Block Congress presidents have been retained even as there are reports that most of the remaining Block Congress Committee Presidents will be replaced within a month.
Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) Vice President (Organisation) M K Shaikh said that the appointments of the presidents of other Block Congress Committees will be announced in due course of time.
“These appointments have been made with the concurrence of All India Congress Committee (AICC), Goa Desk In Charge Dinesh Gundu Rao and other AICC observers,” he said.
On August 27, the AICC had dissolved all Block Congress Committees and both the District Congress Committees except presidents of both the districts with immediate effect.
