PANJIM: TCP Minister Vijai Sardesai said he is ready to discuss the issues of the villagers related to GPPDA at length and is keen on finding solutions to genuine issues.
Sardesai said that calling for a protest is unethical when he has assured that the issues will be debated at length at the board meeting on March 19.
TCP sources have confirmed that the Minister has decided to de-notify all the villages from GPPDA except Taleigao and Kadamba Plateau. Sardesai has said that the decision would be taken on March 19.
“The statement of agitating on April 6 is irresponsible, that is not the way of protesting. Minimum decency for any agitation is by giving the memorandum to the authority, in this case authority is TCP, but they went ahead with the agitation and did not come to me despite assurance of discussing the issue and coming out with a solution,” he said.
He said GPPDA has been formed by following due procedures laid in the TCP rules. The MLAs and Sarpanchas have changed their stand, which is why the issue will be discussed on March 19. “I have given them an assurance that each of the grievances will be taken seriously. I am willing to discuss at length and very much keen on finding solutions,” he said.
He said that Taleigao already comes under PDA and its ODP is pending but at the last GPPDA meeting none of this was discussed because of the conflict. “We have not discussed anything which was in dispute. Where is the question of this declaring protest?” Sardesai asked.
“I am willing to go through every representation given to me, even look at it sympathetically. But you cannot make a mockery of the planning process,” he added.
He said that vertical growth has to happen on Kadamba plateau and ‘we have kept only till Ferns Hotel nothing after that because of the heritage areas’.
