PANJIM: Villagers protesting inclusions of areas in the Greater Panjim Planning and Development Authority (GPPDA) have threatened a massive agitation on April 6 if Town and Country Planning Department fails to de-notify the GPPDA.
Addressing the media on Thursday, the villagers demanded that Atanasio (Babush) Monserrate step down as Chairman of GPPDA. “If before April 6 the government fails to de-notify GPPDA, we will come on the street agitating against the adamant approach of the TCP. We will block every road,” villagers said.
“We have made all possible attempts in democratic way to convince the government, TCP and Babush Monserrate but still they want to go ahead this is a clear warning to TCP,” the villagers added.
The people have said no to the PDA and all that comes along with it. They added that if Monserrate doesn’t understand what to include in the authority he should read the TCP Act.
They were reacting to statement by Monserrate on Wednesday that people have a problem with the person and not with PDA. “Since you (Babush) understand the sensitivity of the villagers who know your credentials so well, please step down. We the villagers do not want you to mess with our village resources,” villagers said.
