MARGAO: Ramesh Tawadkar has reacted to the 2009 case against him saying his intention was clear and he is ready to face whatever comes ahead.
Tawadkar said, “It’s not a big issue as my intention was clear. The fact is that while going towards my house I heard some sounds in the forest and I went inside to check the noises and saw that one officer had beaten up two men who were Karnataka natives and they were bleeding. I told the officer that this violence is not good and told them to file a complaint for the assault,” Tawadkar said.
“It was a Congress government then and by pressure there may be a complaint filed against me and I am ready to face it if it is so,” he added.
“It may be that they were alarmed and they filed a case on me because I saw them bleeding. My move to go there was a social duty and if the case is charge sheeted then I am ready to face it all,” the minister said.
“As an elected representative and as a human I can’t close my eyes on this incident. Moreover, they are neither my workers nor relatives,” he added.
Quepem DySP Sammy Tavares said the chargesheet has been sent for the SP’s approval and that he was yet to receive permission to file it.
