PANJIM: Even though the State has been declared a Green zone, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said the real challenge starts now to retain that status.

Speaking to reporters, Rane said the State has to do a lot of work and take steps to see that all of Goa remains safe.

“The team has been very forthcoming and been in the frontline at Covid hospital, Virology lab and the Goa Medical College, he said after the Indian Navy flypast over GMC this morning to honour the health workers.

Rane said the government has to take all steps as per the guidelines of the MHA. “The Epidemic Act is in place. Masks, sanitisation and social distancing is the key,” he added.

On the plans to bring the stranded Goans, the health minister said, “Government wants every Goan to come back home but they have to adhere to strict quarantine rules”.

“We have to be responsible citizens. No seafarer in quarantine will be allowed to leave without completing 14-day mandatory quarantine,” he said.

On OPDs he said, he has to draw out a protocol and only then a decision can be taken.

“Only emergency OPD will continue for now,” he said.

The health minister praised the defence forces for their gesture to honour the health workers.

“This gesture will go a long way in motivating the medical team to serve the people,” he said.
