PANJIM: The Special Leave Petition filed by Congress before the Supreme Court challenging the order of the High Court of Bombay at Goa dismissing disqualification petitions against 10 defected MLAs will be heard on Friday, April 22.
The SLP filed by former Goa Congress president Girish Chodankar has been listed before a bench comprising Justice M R Shah and Justice N V Nagarathan.
In February, the High Court had upheld order of the Goa Assembly Speaker dismissing disqualification petitions filed against the 10 MLAs, who had switched over to the BJP in July 2019. In the SLP, Chodankar, has stated that the Speaker allowed protection to the erstwhile party members by invoking the protection guaranteed to a legislature party member.
