No allegation against anyone: Shet
BICHOLIM: The Mayem MLA and speaker, Anant Shet today stated that he would resign from BJP and would contest as independent candidate if his supporters demand.
Today speaking at a meeting of his supporters Shet told that he is surprised over the delay in announcement of the Mayem seat by BJP. “We don’t know why there is such delay made by the party in announcing the ticket of Mayem” Shet told “all the reasons given by Parrikar for denying me ticket are false and I have always tried to bring about development in the constituency.”
“I don’t want to make any remarks and allegations against anyone and if denied the ticket I might resign and contest as independent candidate” Shet told.
Earlier the supporters of Shet told that they are sidelined because they are from bahujan samaj and alleged that Parrikar has given ticket to a Saraswat. They also stated that BJP has taken advantage of Shet’s simplicity.

If you appease, the die will be ‘Caste’
Team Herald
The politics of appeasing caste is treading on thin ice and this was evident from the recent developments on the political scenario with BJP’s three Mandals objecting to the exclusion of Ramesh Tawadkar from the list of candidates. It is understood why the party’s Canacona Mandal protested against the party for not announcing his candidature instantly. After all, Tawadkar is reputed for having helped the ST community from his constituency but also changing the face of the Taluka by executing the schemes.
In Canacona constituency, the number of youngsters, including ST youth who have secured government jobs in the last five years is astounding. Besides, Tawadkar had also ensured that his constituency benefitted from the departments he headed and proof of this is the number of poly houses in Canacona from where capsicum, orchid and other exotic flowers are being exported everyday thereby changing the lives of hundreds of people who have now become affluent.
But it is quite perplexing why other Mandals of BJP should object to his exclusion from the candidate list specially as the BJP has other candidates who belong to the ST comunity. There is Ganesh Gaonkar in Sanvordem, Prakash Velip in Quepem and Pandurang Madkaikar in Cumbarjua.
