Reckless driver gets 7-day jail

Beware, rash and reckless driving may not just land you in trouble, but even in jail.
A 29-year native of Jharkhand realized the bitter truth when he was sentenced by the Special Judicial Magistrate S B Faria to seven days imprisonment for driving his truck in a rash and negligent manner, causing damage to an electric pole and a loss of Rs 3,200.
The incident occurred on November 20 when Arun Kumar was driving his truck GA 02 T 6815 dashed against an electric pole at Chandor.
After the Maina Curtorim police field a case against the accused, the Special Judicial Magistrate convicted the driver under section 184 and 185 of the Motor Vehicles Act and sentenced him to undergo seven days simple imprisonment. The accused has paid the fine of Rs 1500.
