Reconstructed Parra panchayat ghar opened

PARRA: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant inaugurated the reconstructed Parra Panchayat ghar.

Panchayat Raj Minister Mauvin Godinho, Minister for Ports and RDA Michael Lobo, Vice Chairman of Goa State Urban Development Agency (GSIDA) and Mapusa MLA Joshua D’Souza, Sarpanch of Parra Panchayat Delilah Lobo and panchas were present.

Delilah Lobo informed that the reconstruction of existing panchayat ghar was taken up under the Deendayal Panchayat Raj Infrastructure Development (Golden Jubilee) Scheme having a total build-up area of approximately 498.86 sq mts.

She said that the reconstruction work was taken up since the existing building was marred with various problems and was required for improved functional feasibility. “The building has an air-conditioned hall with capacity of 85 people, a storage room, toilet block and separate cabins for the sarpanch, secretary and talathi, as well as an office area and library,” she informed.

“The ground floor constitutes of shops which will generate revenue to the panchayat and there is also provision of elevator for barrier free entry. The total cost of work is Rs 1.78 crore.

Free WiFi facilities will be made available soon at the premises for public especially for students for online classes. 10 laptops will be made available for the students to attend online classes,” she added.
