Rectify new policy or keep the old policy: Shack owners meet CM

Shack owners in Goa have once again voiced their concerns
regarding the newly introduced Shack Policy 2023. On Monday, a group of shack
owners organized a protest march to the Secretariat, where they met with Chief
Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant. Their primary demand was for the new policy to be
rectified or for the old policy to be retained.

In response, Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant has committed
to a thorough examination of the matter and has initiated plans for a joint
meeting involving all relevant stakeholders in the coming days.

The recent unveiling of the “Goa State Shack Policy
2023-2006” by the Goa government aims to enhance beach tourism, promote
sustainability, and stimulate economic growth within the local community. The
concerns raised by shack owners highlight the importance of balancing policy
changes with the needs and interests of local businesses and communities.
