Redress kabrastan issue, civic bodies told

PANJIM: The High Court of Bombay at Goa has directed the municipal councils of Margao, Mapusa and Ponda to undertake concrete measures to redress the issue of kabrastan. 

The High Court has given these councils a period of 15 days to heed to the directions stating that a kabrastan at these locations are required to maintain communal peace and harmony. During the hearing, the High Court was informed that there was no graveyard for the Muslims at Margao, Mapusa and Ponda.  At a meeting with the Minority’s Cell of the BJP, last week, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant had assured that the government, wherever possible, will build kabrastans in various parts of the State.
