VALPOI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Sunday appealed to the newly recruited police staff to respect the service pledge and to restrain from doing wrong deeds, which could blemish the department. CM Sawant was speaking during the 49th passing out parade of constables at Valpoi. “One thing everyone should keep in mind is that they should respect their police uniform. You should not engage yourself in any act that will blemish this uniform and department,” Sawant said.
Sawant also assured to promote the constables who are graduates, post graduates, law graduates and holding engineering degree, in near future. “Though the eligibility for the constable’s post is SSC, but it’s an honour to the home department that many recruited policemen are holding these professional as well as higher degrees” he said. Since they are holding these degrees, constables can become PSI, PI, DySP, SP and also some can reach to the cadre of IPS in their 30 to 35 years of service, he added.
Sawant also said that many policemen had lost their lives to save people’s lives so the police should be the guardian of law and help the people. “You are here to serve the people, give them justice and maintain peace. Hence you should not infringe these principles,” the CM told the new constables. Sawant also said that the constables should not commit any mistake while serving the people.

An impressive passing out parade to mark the culmination of the training was held at the PTS ground in Valpoi during which Chief Minister Sawant inspected the ceremonial march past and took the salute. The batch of 125 ladies police constables, 174 police constables and 473 from Delhi Police Academy passed out. DGP Jaspal Singh, IPS and other top police officials were present.
