MARGAO: Curtorim MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco has alleged a scam of Rs 7 crore and corrupt practices being adopted by the Administrator of Sanjivani Sahakari Sakhar Karkhana, Dharbandora and his driver.
The Sanjivani sugar factory comes under the Department of Co-operation and is financed by the State Government. The MLA has alleged that the factory at present is in loss because of mismanagement, misuse of funds and misutilisation of funds for personal benefits by unqualified managing director and administrator of the sugar factory.
“The Administrator Umesh Chandra Joshi has employed non-Goan staff from Karnataka and Maharashtra illegally by taking money with the help of his driver Siddharth Volvoikar, who is acting as his “commission agent”. The administrator is “harassing” key staff such as chief engineer, chief chemist, chief agricultural officers, labour officers, civil engineers, chief accounts officer, who are also illegally removed, illegally transferred and some have to give up service because of humiliation and embarrassment by the duo,” Reginaldo alleged.
“Through the cane farmers, we have spoken to the Agriculture Minister and will also write to the Chief Minister to take strict action and put things in order at the factory,” he said.
