MARGAO: Curtorim MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco along with some of the members of Citizens for Sonsoddo visited the Fomento Green Plant at Sonsodo.
The MLA expressed frustration the way garbage is being handled at the plant while residents of Raia and the Citizens For Sonsoddo have termed the plant as a “white elephant” and growing problem of Margao and surrounding areas.
Soon after inspecting the plant, the MLA interacted with the media.
“I am still not convinced that the plant can’t handle the daily garbage. Not even 10 per cent garbage has been cleared by them today and all they are processing is old dried up waste,” Reginaldo informed.
“I am not happy with the functioning. They have to do more. My people are suffering the most and this is for them and not personal fight or ego clash,” he added.
Reginaldo also informed of having seen the garbage trucks is not coming to the plant and going straight to the dump. Refuting allegations levelled against the functioning of Sonsoddo plant, Fomento Green CEO Shridhar Kamat has called for a better understanding of aerobic windrow composting technology before passing judgements on technicalities.
