Reginaldo Lourenco versus Manohar Parrikar

He is said to be the most vocal Congressman for many Assembly sessions. The Curtorim MLA Reginaldo Lourenco, obviously still smarting from his defeat in the Lok Sabha elections, this time accused the government of presenting an ‘unrealistic’ Budget 2014-15, pointing out that promises from the past two Budgets were not fulfilled.

Speaking during the general discussion on Budget 2014-15 last Wednesday, the Congress MLA alleged that this Budget was not very different than the previous one.
“We will wait and watch what he (chief minister Manohar Parrikar) does on this Budget (2014-15),” he told the House.
The chief minister had replied that Lourenco was being irrelevant. “I didn’t understand what he spoke on the budget…he has spoken irrelevant things and most of it is not mentioned in the budget,” he said.
Unfazed, Lourenco demanded that Parrikar come out clean on the mining ban and also alleged that he had done ‘U-turns’ on several issues.
Parrikar thereafter assured to present action taken reports of 2013-14 and the recently tabled 2014-15 Budgets on the floor of the House during the ongoing monsoon session of the legislative assembly.
“I will present action taken report of both Budgets…It can be analyzed…” he had responded to allegations.
