Reginaldo slams Mickky for remark on Curtorim harvester scam

MARGAO: Curtorim MLA Reginaldo Lourenco and Nuvem Zilla Panchayat member Wilfred D’Sa on Tuesday slammed Goa Vikas Party supremo Mickky Pacheco for his comment on a harvester scam in Curtorim and Nuvem, demanding that Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar conduct a thorough probe and place the report on the floor of the House at the next session.

Reginaldo said he and Wilfred have personally worked in the agricultural fields with the farmers, unlike others who have the habit of frequenting into discos, pubs and casinos. “Mickky has targeted Wilfred with a false and baseless allegation that there’s a scam in the harvesters because he had supported me in Nuvem in the Lok Sabha poll”, he said.
The Curtorim MLA pointed out his contribution to the promotion of agriculture is not only in Curtorim but across the State. “Outside my house, there are no Mercedes or Hummer cars, but power tillers, harvesters and tractors. We have formed society of farmers to avail various benefits”, he said, while saying that baseless allegation will not stop him from reaching out to many more farmers in his village and outside.
Wilfred said the Chief Minister should conduct a proper inquiry on the allegations made by Mickky and make the report public.
“I had formed a farmers’ group in Nuvem and had brought harvesters, tractors etc. What Mickky said is false and baseless. I do not want to make money on harvesters”, he said.
Wilfred said Mickky is out to tarnish his image because he did not support the BJP in the Lok Sabha poll. “Mickky initially said that we should support Churchill and then the Congress and later asked us to support the BJP. I decided to stand by my people since they were opposed to the BJP”, he added.
