MARGAO: While terming Aam Aadmi Party’s outburst against some Catholic priests Congress MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco said it was a reflection of the fact that AAP has realized it is going to lose the elections very badly and demanded that the party apologise for its diatribe against the priests.
It may be recalled that AAP had termed some priests as Congress agents for allegedly appealing to the people to vote for Congress in the LS elections. He said this attack on the priests was because after elections AAP has realized that it will lose its security deposit in South Goa.
While pointing out that Archbishop of Goa and Daman Rev Fr Filipe Neri Ferrao had asked Goans to exercise their franchise and to vote out corrupt and communal candidates who were fostering split in the society, Aleixo said that even during the 2012 assembly elections the church had appealed to people to vote out corrupt politicians.
Aleixo further likened AAP’s recent outburst to that of Churchill Alemao who had blamed the Church for his defeat in the 2012 elections.
While advising AAP to gracefully accept the people’s mandate, Aleixo reiterated that AAP has to apoligise to the church for its outburst and also to the people of Goa.
