PANJIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday instructed head of departments (HoDs) to ensure timely release of benefits of various government schemes to the beneficiaries before the ensuing Ganesh Chaturthi.
Sawant held a review of the public welfare schemes of both, Union and Goa governments implemented in the State with the officials of the Finance Department and head of departments at the Mantralaya, Porvorim.
After the meeting, Sawant said that he has been regularly holding review meetings with the officials of the Finance Department. He said that he has told the officials to expedite the financial assistance of social security schemes such as Griha Aadhar Scheme, Dayanand Social Security Scheme, and also compensation to affected farmers whose crops were damaged due to incessant rains. The financial assistance will be directly transferred into the accounts of all the beneficiaries latest by September 4, he added.
The government will also release incentives to milk/dairy farmers and fuel subsidies for fishermen, the Chief Minister said.
The heavy rains over two weeks in July had affected different crops across the State causing losses to the farmers.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister left for New Delhi to attend the Real Estate Group of Ministers (GoM) meeting scheduled on Thursday, August 22. In June this year, Sawant was appointed as convenor of the reconstituted Group of Ministers (GoM) for boosting the real estate sector under GST regime.
