PONDA: The ongoing installation of road dividers on the Bethora-Borim Highway has been welcomed by local residents. Concerns about safety arose among residents when the widening work began on this four-kilometre stretch of the Belgavi-Margao Highway bypass road.
Prior to the installation of dividers, the highway posed safety challenges due to its sharp turns and lack of proper illumination. With the widening of the road, vehicles began to ply at higher speeds, raising safety concerns. However, with the commencement of divider installation work, locals are optimistic that it will help prevent accidents.
Currently, the installation of dividers has started on the widened bypass road from Malshe-Curti. Despite the progress, there are still sections of the road where widening work remains incomplete, posing risks to commuters. One particular concern is the lack of street lighting along certain stretches of the road.
