Relief for South Goa locals as loo revamp at Collectorate nearly complete

MARGAO: Visitors and staff at the South Goa Collectorate building can expect much-needed relief as repair works, including the renovation of toilet blocks, are nearing completion. These improvements are set to significantly enhance the facilities for the public.

Authorities have nearly completed the renovation of 18 out of 26 toilet blocks, which had previously caused significant inconvenience due to poor maintenance. Srinet Kothwale, Additional Collector I, stated that the remaining tasks, including internal painting and other miscellaneous work, are awaiting government approval and will be addressed promptly once approval is granted.

The poor condition of the non-functional toilet blocks had reached an alarming level, causing discomfort to government staff, particularly the large number of female employees, as well as the many visitors who frequent the complex for their work. Female staff members often had to trudge from floor to floor to find a working toilet.

The work, initiated by the Public Works Department (PWD) through their contractor, is almost complete. An official from the PWD office mentioned that they have been continuously monitoring the progress to ensure that the necessary repairs are made and that the facilities are restored to proper working condition.
