‘Remember supreme sacrifices of freedom fighters’

CURCHOREM: Power Minister Nilesh Cabral said youth must understand and remember the supreme sacrifices of the freedom fighters who fought liberate Goa from Portuguese. 
Addressing at the 58th Goa’s Liberation Day function at SAG complex, Borimoll- Quepem on Thursday, he said, “There are many issues which need to be addressed and the government is striving hard to settle and give the best to its people without any differences and to achieve the benefits of freedom, the government is streamlining the administration under the leadership of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.” 
Cabral said it is the duty of not only political leaders but of every citizen to contribute towards State welfare. 
“Youth are future leaders of our country and they must work for the betterment of our society by exposing corruption and drug activities which is bad for our society at large,” Cabral added. Later, a March past and patriotic competition were organized. 
Quepem Deputy Collector Rohit Kadam, Mamlatdar Ramesh Gaonkar, Joint Mamlatdar Manoj Korgaonkar, Quepem PI Santosh Dessai and Quepem PE Officer John Fernandes were also present.
Meanwhile, the Curchorem-Cacora Municipal Council celebrated the Goa Liberation Day by organising various programmes for students.
Earlier chairperson Balkrishna (Pinty) Hodarkar unfurled the tri-colour in the presence of local MLA and Power Minister Nilesh Cabral and councillors among other dignitaries.
Doctors Sonu Kamat and Anil Hari Prabhudessai and local toddy tappers Rosario Coutinho and Antonio Fernandes were felicitated by Cabral. Various programmes were organised for students.
